I could not trust my frail memory to hold this image for the rest of forever,
so I asked permission to snap and post, as I always do with her, and she nodded assent with a half-second whale-size giggle. Man, I like this kid.

He is determined to figure out a way to ascend. Most of his solutions to any given problem these days involve some some sort of rope, twine, or string.

Dug up an old pair of binoculars. They have been ornamented across his chest ever since, as he treks his way around the wild, although it’s still a challenge remembering which end you’re supposed to look through.

It is a struggle to imagine how little I would get done without the assistance of my faithful assistants. Also, it takes a great deal of stress off me to have someone else handling the dangerous bits.

I’m not the greatest landscaper, but I am pretty handy at making cool things for kids to play on outside, especially ones that involve projecting oneself through the atmosphere.

My preggo wife not only spent the day hiking with her family, but packed in a giant thermos of hot chocolate for us to savor in the cold. Amazing.

Yes, my daughter toted her camera around to all four waterfalls we hit today. Sniff.
FOUR FAMILY-FRIENDLY GORGE WATERFALLS :)
- Wahkeena Falls
- Horsetail Falls
- Ponytail Falls (officially known as Upper Horsetail Falls. Coincidentally, it is four-tenths of a mile above Horsetail Falls).
- Latourell Falls
All are accessible within a 15-minute drive of Bridal Veil exit. Happy exploring!

Note the light. Note the pedestrian in crosswalk.
A colleague of mine recently moved from down south, and described differences in driving styles between states:
“When the light turns green, you punch the gas. You just hit it. In Oregon, drivers just sort of…take their foot off the brake, and leisurely accelerate through.”
Yeah, I’m in the latter category. And one of the main reasons is for those one in five hundred scenarios where someone deliberately crosses, in front of you, and if you’re a “gun it at the light” driver…someone’s getting hit.
So honk if you want. I ain’t flooring gas three nanoseconds after the light turns.
Even in the face of brazen jaywalking :)
